If Outlook is saying that it's offline down the bottom of the screen, you may need to switch back to online mode:



To switch back to Online mode:


  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on "Send / Receive" along the top. If you're using a Mac, click on "Tools":
  3. Click on "Work Offline" so that it's no longer dark grey

  4. If you're on a Mac, this is a toggle switch. Switch it so it's green:
  5. Your computer should start downloading emails again


If you're still unable to send or receive emails, then try these troubleshooting steps:


  1. Find your "Outbox" folder (1) and delete any emails that are in there (2). Then close Outlook and open it again
  2. Check that you're connected to the internet. Open up your web browser and try to go to a website such as https://dell.com to confirm that you can access the internet
